MORE THAN NUMBERS

What do your results mean for you?

A laboratory result can show whether a number falls inside or outside a reference range, but that does not always explain what it means in the context of your health.

A GP can look at the bigger picture – considering your results alongside your symptoms, medical history, medication, family history, blood pressure, weight and lifestyle where relevant.

WHEN A REVIEW CAN HELP

IS THIS FOR ME?

You do not need to wait until a result is seriously abnormal before asking questions about your health.

  • One or more results are abnormal or borderline.

  • Your results are normal, but you still have symptoms or concerns.

  • You want to understand several results and the overall health picture.

  • You want to know whether lifestyle changes could improve your future health.

  • You are unsure whether or when a test should be repeated.

  • You want to discuss whether treatment may be appropriate.

  • You had private health screening and need help deciding what happens next.
SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED MORE

More than a results explanation

Prescriptions
Where treatment is clinically appropriate, your GP can discuss prescribing options and the checks needed for safe treatment.
Forms, letters & documentation
If your health issue requires medical documentation, your GP can advise whether an appropriate form, letter, report or supporting information can be provided.
Ongoing health support
Where appropriate, your GP can help plan monitoring, follow-up and practical health goals rather than leaving you to manage your results alone.

Frequently asked questions

What results can I have reviewed?

You can book a consultation to discuss blood tests, screening results, health-check reports and other medical test results that a GP can reasonably assess remotely. If your results require a different type of assessment, your GP can advise you on the appropriate next step.

Can you review results from another clinic or laboratory?

Yes. Have a clear copy of the complete report available for your consultation, including the results, units and laboratory reference ranges where provided.

What should I have ready?

Have your complete results report available and, where possible, a list of your current medication, relevant medical conditions and any symptoms or questions you would like to discuss.

Will I receive a prescription?

Medication can be considered where clinically appropriate, but a prescription is not guaranteed and will only be issued when the GP considers treatment suitable and safe.

Can the GP recommend further tests?

Yes. Your GP can advise whether repeat or further testing may be appropriate and discuss suitable next steps based on your individual circumstances.

What if my result needs urgent attention?

If your results or symptoms suggest that urgent medical assessment is required, you will be advised to use the appropriate urgent or emergency service. Dokta is not an emergency service.

Does this replace my NHS GP?

No. Dokta provides an additional way to access medical advice. You remain free to discuss your results and healthcare with your NHS GP or another healthcare professional.
